Zaslavsky Featured as Special Issue Editor of Health Services Research

Professor of health care policy Alan M. Zaslavsky was featured as a special issue editor of the December 2017 issue of Health Services Research along with Adam J. Atherly and Glen P. Mays.

This special issue of Health Services Research, titled “The Economics of Public Health: Missing Pieces to the Puzzle of Health System Reform” looks at the resources consumed by the health system and the health outcomes in the US population. In the United States, the public health system, where government agencies work together with private and voluntary organizations to identify and prevent public health risks, is given little attention

The publications contained in this issue explore how public health agencies can deliver services efficiently and interact productively with other elements of the health system. Overall, the results suggest promising avenues for aligning medical care and public health practices.
