The American Heart Association’s Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research has awarded Sharon-Lise Normand the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented at their annual meeting in April 2017.

Normand earned this honor for her leadership in cardiovascular hospital quality assessments at the state level for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (Mass-DAC public reporting) and at the national level for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for development of hospital mortality and readmission measures; for service on American Heart Association Workgroups, including the Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research, American  College of Cardiology Taskforces, and Society of Thoracic Surgeons’ Workgroups; and for her editorial role as Senior Statistical Editor for the American Heart Association’s Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Journal.

Normand’s research focuses on statistical methods for health services and policy research, with emphasis on outcomes and quality of care. She is director of Mass-DAC, the data-coordinating center responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on the quality of care for adults discharged following a cardiac procedure from all non-federal hospitals in Massachusetts, and director of MDEpiNet, a public-private partnership aimed at medical device evaluation.
