Ahead of the Annual Research Meeting, AcademyHealth announced the winners of their various research awards. Included among the names were several HCP former students and faculty.
John Ayanian, former HCP faculty, won the Distinguished Investigator Award for his significant contributions to health services research. As director of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation at the University of Michigan, Ayanian has published on health care interventions and research for decades.
Julia Adler-Milstein, formerly a health policy PhD student at HCP and currently an associate professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, was named Hersh New Investigator Recipient. For the past four years, this award has been given to former health policy students: Katy Backes Kozhimannil, Benjamin Sommers and Michael McWilliams.
Finally, Rebecca Haffajee, former PhD student, won the Outstanding Dissertation Award for her work investigating the relationships between law and health. Former students including McWilliams, Ben Cook, Ben Sommers, Jill Horwitz, Adler-Milstein and runner-up Aaron Schwartz received this award in past years.
