Rationing of Mental Health Services: Simple Observations on the Current Approach and Future Prospects

An economic perspective is brought to bear on the question of rationing scarce mental health services. Basic economic principles are reviewed as they relate to resource allocation. Current rationing mechanisms are then reviewed followed by a discussion of some principles which should govern any rationing scheme for mental health. (Fall 1985)
