Mehrotra Inducted into ASCI

Ateev Mehrotra, PhD

Associate professor of health care policy Ateev Mehrotra, MD, MPH has been selected as a new member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI).

Comprised of more than 3,000 physician-scientists from all medical specialties, ASCI seeks to support the scientific efforts, education needs, and clinical aspirations of physician-scientists in their mission of improving the health of all people. They are dedicated to the advancement of research that expands understanding and improves treatment of diseases. Members of ASCI mentor future generations of physician-scientists from diverse backgrounds and biomedical disciplines.

Founded in 1908, ASCI is one of the nation’s oldest nonprofit medical honor societies. They focus on the special role of physician-scientists in research, clinical care, and medical education, as well as the leadership roles many members hold in academic medicine and the life-sciences industry.

Dr. Dr. Mehrotra’s research focuses on interventions to decrease costs and improve quality of care. Much of his work has focused on innovations in delivery such as retail clinics and e-visits and their impact on quality, costs, and access to health care. He is also interested in the role of consumerism and whether price transparency and public reporting of quality can impact patient decision making. Related work has focused on quality measurement, including how natural language processing can be used to analyze the data in electronic health records to measure the quality of care.

Mehrotra will be inducted into the American Society for Clinical Investigation at the Association of American Physicians/American Society for Clinical Investigation/American Physician-Scientist Association Joint Meeting in Chicago on Friday, April 3, 2020.
