Ridley Watts Professor and founding head of the HMS department of health care policy Barbara J McNeil has been awarded the National Academy of Medicine’s Walsh McDermott Medal. The Academy, formed of professionals from diverse fields of health and medicine, awards the Walsh McDermott Medal to a member once a year for distinguished service over an extended amount of time.
McNeil has been an active member of the National Academy of Medicine since 1980. During this time, she has served on the Governing Council as well as acted as chair and vice chair of numerous committees.
