In October 2016, Nancy Keating and Haiden Huskamp were two of eleven participants invited to participate in the HMS Female Leaders in Science Workshop. The workshop sought to bolster female academics in the HMS community to reach their full leadership potential by coming up with concrete recommendations and improvements for the entire school.
In an associated HMS article, Keating said:
The workshop was an incredible opportunity to get to know other women faculty on the Quad. Although our areas of focus may be quite different, we have many shared experiences. I also gained tools that have helped me be a more effective communicator, which I’ve been able to share with my mentees.
In addition to their work here, Keating and Huskamp collaborative internally with other HCP faculty members to foster similar discussions about inclusion and diversity.
The workshop was co-sponsored by Harvard’s Office for Academic and Clinical Affairs and the Vallee Foundation. It was designed to further the goals of the HMS Task Force on Faculty Development and Diversity.
